JH: What’s the blurb for your book Swastika Nation: Fritz Kuhn and the Rise and Fall of the German-American Bund?

AB: American Nazis of the 1930s and the disparate alliance of politicians, journalists, everyday citizens, movie stars, and mobsters who brought them down.

JH: What inspired you to write this book?

AB: I was curious about the Jews who fought back during WWII. Research led me to the story of the Bundists and the people who fought back.

JH: What one thing do you love most about writing?

AB: The heat of the moment when I'm on a roll.

JH: What’s next for you in the way of writing/publishing?

AB: Working on a new nonfiction book proposal.

I'm a nonfiction author who loves exploring stories that fell into the cracks of history. Chicago-based. Write all my first drafts on a manual typewriter. Avid runner. Voracious and ferocious reader. Writing teacher & coach. Amateur ukulele player. Groucho Marxist.
