Welcome to Books By My Friends, Tara. Let’s dive into the details of your book!
JH: What’s the blurb for Submitting to Him?
TC: An act of betrayal, a call to 911, and a note from the brother she lost give Natalie the courage to embark on a journey of self-exploration. Unknowingly set up by their friends, Alex and Natalie spend the evening together at New York City’s Fire and Ice Club. Neither one is looking for love, but their chemistry is too strong to ignore. They agree to a relationship with an expiration date—the insurance policy both believe will keep their hearts safe. Distance makes the heart grow fonder, or so they say. Forces outside their control seek to pull them apart, but they find their way back to one another. The couple’s connection is stronger than ever until tragedy strikes Natalie’s family. Mistakes are made. Words that can’t be taken back are uttered. Sometimes it takes the love of friends to pick up the pieces. Can two broken souls find their way back to one another?
JH: What inspired you to write Submitting to Him?
TC: The book started as my thesis for my MFA program. I wanted to write a strong fiction story with a BDSM theme. It was important to me to balance the steamy scenes with a strong storyline--and I think I've accomplished my goal. (My mom won't read romance with any "sexy scenes" so I went through the book and deleted them for her. Even without those scenes, the storyline is strong. Mom approved!) I also wanted to write characters who are relatable. They needed to have faults, mess up, have to say 'I'm sorry,' and so many other things a "real" person experiences. This way, my readers could put themselves in my characters shoes and feel their experiences. From the reviews, and the private messages I get, I think that's worked too.
JH: What one thing do you love most about writing?
TC: I love creating a new world and the people who live in it. At the beginning of each book, I always have at least a loose outline of where I'd like the story to go, but each time, the characters speak up and tell me their story. It's amazing to see them come to life on the page.
JH: What’s next for you in the way of writing/publishing?
TC: I'm working on the next character in my Fire and Ice World- Viktor. He's getting a two book age gap romance. I'm really excited to tell his story.
JH: How can readers contact you?
