Internet Scavenger Hunt Instructions Inside
Follow the clues on my blog
JUNE 2026
Hello Lovely Readers, Writers & Friends!
My latest blog
explains the twist on the newsletter reader drawing I offer quarterly (and sometimes holidays.) To this day as a seasoned gamer, I enjoy scavenger hunts. As a kid they challenged my intellect while engaging me in creative and critical thinking. As a matter of fact, that is precisely my preferred method of learning and teaching as well as the primary theme of My WriteDay boxes! Anyway, to play this internet scavenger hunt associated with my latest novel Saving Marietta: Journey to Freedom, Book 1, you must go to my blog www.joyeheld.com for instructions. Direct link to the blog is here <READ MORE>
Winner of the SPRING READER drawing is Samantha D. from Montana. Thanks for entering and reading, Sam😊
The only way to enter the summer reader drawing is to go to my blog link (above) and participate in the internet scavenger hunt.
My book event schedule
is rather light as I’m taking several weeks off to rest, finish revisions on Saving Marietta Book 2, spend time with family, catch a baseball game, and teach an online course for Southern New Hampshire University.
My WriteDay
is blossoming weekly with new subscribers and summer reading plans for homeschooling families across the country. My WriteDay Kids and Teens are retiring a couple of books/boxes and coming out with new books/boxes in August. And August is the third anniversary of MWD!
If you want to subscribe (for ages 15-adult,) the next open cart will be Monday, July 6. The theme for the July/August box is “YOU Are the Story.” Current subscribers boxes will ship the week of July 6. New subscribers who sign up July 6th will ship July 20.
There are always plenty of interesting articles
about reading, writing, and publishing. So many that sometimes I have trouble choosing one to highlight for you to consider. I prefer to promote positivity, but sometimes the headlines are not all sunshine and lollipops.
Reading among adults is experiencing (another) decline, but those adults who read prefer PRINT books. This is a short read. A little data won’t hurt you! <READ MORE>

Blurb:
Molly Hilliard’s passion is medicine, but the patriarchy in 1796 Baltimore will have nothing of it and cast her out of medical school. Determined to be more than an herbal healer, she strikes out for The Northwest Territory seeking the freedom to practice medicine in Marietta, but she first needs a guide and a guard to get her down the mighty Ohio River.
The Greeneville Treaty of 1795 liberated Romney Applewood and his younger sister after ten years as captives of native tribes in The Northwest Territory. He is more interested in getting out of the wilderness and finding medical attention for his sister until the lady doctor literally falls into his arms, and the direction of his life journey changes forever.

Gratitude moment
This month I want to thank a neighbor who lives a few doors from me. We live in the heart of the city, but he nurtures chickens and shares the egg-celent results with neighbors like me. I truly appreciate his generosity.
Quote that speaks to me at this moment in time.
“Life tells you nothing, it shows you everything.” ~Richard Bach
