If you’ve been around me for a hot minute, you know how much I love journaling. Since that diary I kept at age ten (that my “best” friend read and reported on at school the next day) to the pages I keep as a seasoned writer, I admit to feeling too tired to journal sometimes. A variety of reasons can cause this to happen:
· Exhausted from writing a book
· Exhausted from editing a book
· Exhausted from grading other people’s books
· Really busy
None of these are complaints. I love what I do as an author, writing teacher, and household Chief Operating Officer, but my schedule can and does take its toll on my energy and time. But I don’t want to miss journal time. My answer is to make a quick list of the day’s moments and save the deep analysis entries for other days. In my journal, I call it a “Quickie Recap.”
Here is the November quickie recap:
LIVE STREAMING HATHA YOGA meets every Tuesday. This live class and my students are the joy and highlight of my week.
SNHU ONLINE MFA CREATIVE WRITING COURSE concluded a few days ago. It was interesting. The students were wonderful and most of them eager to learn what it means to tell a story. Turned in final grades yesterday!
$H!T happens and one of our debit cards was compromised. Fun, not, but the bank was great about stopping the breach and getting us a new card pronto. Whew.
REVISIONS ON THE CURRENT BOOK UNDER CONTRACT were a challenge but only because of time constraints created by my overwhelming obligations to SNHU. Revisions were completed and turned in ahead of deadline. Go me.
Where’s Joy?
I didn’t have time or energy to attend any book events in November, but I will be in Clarksburg, WV Saturday, December 2, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Clarksburg-Harrison Public Library for an author day! I would love to see my local book friends there! 404 West Pike Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301
Books By My Friends
Books By My Friends blog call for submissions for the winter 2024 was a great success! I received over 60 requests for 30 openings. If you made the cut, I will contact you AFTER THE HOLIDAYS with the schedule. There will be another call for submissions for spring 2024 in March.
**Meanwhile, you may be interested in a couple of book marketing opportunities I have open for authors. You can buy inexpensive advertisements for your book on the BBMF blog. They appear at the bottom of the weekly post. There are never more than four ads so as not to overwhelm my readers. They are $10 for one ad or $25.00 for three of the same ad. I can invoice you via PayPal. There is an additional $2.00 service charge to go through PayPal. Or you can mail a check made payable to Joy E. Held/Writer Wellness Workshop. Email me for the mailing address.
**The other opportunity is to have your bookmark or book postcard included in My WRITEDAY which is my subscription box service for writers. The minimum cost is $15.00 for every ten inserts. You may mail up to 30 bookmarks or book post cards with a check to my address. Email me for the mailing address.
My WRITEDAY is a bimonthly subscription box for writers and readers. You can read more about it here My WRITEDAY. Your insert will be included in subscriber’s boxes and serve to promote your book to them when they open their purple boxes that have been described as “a treasure trove for writers.”
